Cleaning Bathroom Tiles: A Step-By-Step Guide

Cleaning Bathroom Tiles: A Step-By-Step GuideCleaning bathroom tiles is an inevitable part of cleaning your bathroom. In fact, it makes up most of the task in bathroom cleaning. The bathroom is an important part of the house which easily gets dirty because for the most part it remains damp. It is also commonly exposed to dirt and soap scum. To make matters worse, it is the perfect breeding place for mold and mildew.

As hard as the task of cleaning your bathroom is, it should be done regularly to prevent unhygienic build-up. Your bathroom should undergo a thorough cleaning at least once a week.

Step 1:
The first thing you need to do when cleaning bathroom tiles is to disinfect them. You also have to make sure that you remove the germs and bacteria that are residing in your bathroom. You can use a disinfectant to take care of these unwanted elements. Just spray the tiles with the disinfectant and leave it for a couple of minutes. There are instructions on the package of the disinfectant, which will tell you how long to leave it before you wipe the disinfectant with a clean sponge or a squeegee. Aside from disinfecting the tiles, it will also remove the dust on it.

Step 2:
After you have disinfected the bathroom tiles, the next step that you need to do when cleaning bathroom tiles is to remove the molds and mildew. It's common to find molds and mildew in your bathroom because the setting is the perfect breeding place for their spores. With the bathroom almost always damp, less ventilation and less potential for getting direct sunlight, these organisms are sure to sprout. You can use a bleach solution to take care of this. Just mix water and bleach with the same proportion. You can then spray it to the parts where there are molds and mildew. Let the solution stand for about 30 minutes and scrub it off with a sponge.

Step 3:
As for the soap build up which is common for all bathrooms, prevention can be done using a regular car wax. This will keep the tiles shiny and clean. First you have to clean the tiles, when you are finished apply a thin layer of car wax on the bathroom tiles using a clean rag. You may think that it's better to apply a thick layer, but avoid this as you only need a thin layer to do the job. You will only end up with sticky tiles if you put too much wax on it.

Remember...

Don't forget about the grout lines. Cleaning them is an essential part of bathroom cleaning. There are products that are specially made to make cleaning bathroom grout easy. Take advantage of these products. To ensure that you are not faced with future issues on your tile grout, you can seal it with silicone sealers. Do this yearly for maintenance. This will take care of the grout issues and is the last step in cleaning your bathroom tiles.
